1. Who we are
Yerty is operated by RightsTech Ltd (company no. 16602847), 86–90 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NE. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@yerty.co.uk.
Yerty helps people understand UK employment disputes through the published Employment Tribunal record. This policy covers four groups: people named in published tribunal decisions; Claimant Hub, our workplace-help product, users; Intelligence Hub subscribers; and website visitors.
2. People named in published tribunal decisions (the Yerty Index™)
The Yerty Index is built from Employment Tribunal decisions published by HM Courts & Tribunals Service on GOV.UK. Those decisions contain personal data — the names of respondents and judges, and case titles. We did not obtain this information from you; we obtain it from the public register.
What we process: respondent and judge names are recorded as structured fields. Claimant names are not extracted as fields — they appear only within case titles as published, and where the tribunal has anonymised a party, that anonymisation is mirrored. We do not extract personal attributes of claimants (such as age, earnings or health details). Claim types are recorded as attributes of the case, not of any individual.
Why: to operate a legal research and statistics service built on the public tribunal record. Our published findings are aggregate statistics and do not identify individuals. The product does not support searching for claimants by name, in our AI or our search tools.
Because this data concerns a very large number of people and comes from an already-public source, contacting each person individually would involve disproportionate effort. As data protection law requires, we make this information publicly available here instead, and provide the rights and contact routes below.
We retain Index data for as long as the underlying decision remains on the public register and the data is necessary for our research and statistics purposes. If a decision is removed, anonymised or corrected at source, we reflect that change — see our corrections process on the Data Use & Citation page. 3. Claimant Hub (workplace-help product) users
Your account. We process your name, email address and login details to provide your account, under our contract with you.
Your case data. Claims, deadlines, documents and timeline events you add are stored securely and are accessible only to you. We use them solely to provide the service.
Sensitive information. Employment disputes can involve health, discrimination and similar matters. We encourage you to add sensitive details only where necessary for your case. Where you do, we process them because they are necessary for establishing, exercising or defending legal claims, with your explicit consent where required (which you can withdraw at any time), and under the applicable UK Data Protection Act 2018 conditions. The same applies to any information about criminal matters.
Other people's details. If you add details about others (such as witnesses or advisers), we process them only to help you manage your case, and they are covered by any deletion request you make.
AI features. When you choose to use an AI feature, the text you enter is processed by our third-party AI providers under written agreements and their privacy terms. Your inputs are not used to build the Yerty Index. AI outputs are generated content — check them before relying on them.
Retention. Your data is kept while your subscription is active and for 90 days after cancellation, so you can resubscribe and pick up where you left off. After that it is scheduled for deletion. You can request a copy or deletion at any time.
Aggregated insights. We may use platform data, including case-management data, to produce anonymised aggregate statistics about employment disputes (for example, how long disputes take at each stage). Before any such use, information is removed and generalised so no one can be identified or singled out, applying recognised anonymisation standards and minimum group sizes. These statistics never identify you, are never broken down by individual employer, and never contain any individual case. Your case data is never added to the Yerty Index. You can opt out in your account settings without affecting your service.
If your own case is later decided and published by HMCTS, it enters the Index from the public record like any other decision, with the protections in section 2. The two datasets are separate.
4. Intelligence Hub subscribers
We process your account and billing details to provide your subscription. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers.
Your workspace data (saved items, benchmark reports, usage history) is retained for 90 days after your subscription ends, then scheduled for deletion.
When you use Ask Yerty, your query and relevant context from the Yerty Index are processed by our third-party AI providers under written agreements and their privacy terms. Some providers process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on legally recognised transfer safeguards.
5. Website visitors
We set a cookie to remember your consent choices. Google Analytics runs only after you accept analytics cookies. We also record first-party usage events (a session identifier and how you found us) to measure and improve the service; these are not used for advertising and you can object via Manage Cookie Preferences. If you join our mailing list, we email you until you unsubscribe, which you can do in any email.
6. Everyone: sharing, security, rights and complaints
Who we share data with. Service providers that host and run Yerty; Stripe for payments; our AI providers when you use AI features; professional advisers where necessary; a buyer if our business is sold; and authorities where the law requires. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
With your consent, we may publish feedback you give us (for example as an anonymised testimonial). You can withdraw that consent at any time.
Security. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption. No system is completely secure, so please keep your login details safe.
Your rights. You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, a portable copy, or object to processing. Use your account's data page or email privacy@yerty.co.uk; we respond within one month.
Complaints. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, contact privacy@yerty.co.uk — we'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and respond as soon as we can. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Age. Yerty is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes. We'll post updates here with a revised date, and notify you of significant changes.
